LA PAZ - COCHABAMBA -TOROTORO / DINOSAUR FOOTPRINTS

Departure at 6:30 am from your hotel in La Paz, heading to El Alto airport. Flight at 8:15 am to Cochabamba. Arrival at 9 am. A private vehicle will pick you up at the airport to take you to ToroToro National Park (approximately 5h by car). Lunch break in the historical village of Tarata (visit of the main square and the statues of former Presidents of Bolivia). Arrival in Torotoro village around 4pm. We stop near the village to observe the dinosaur footprints, the most representative and untouched ones (a 45-minute visit approximately). At the end of the day, we reach the Umajlanta Eco-Albergue hotel, located 15mn away from the village, with a beautiful view on the village and the mountains around. Rest, dinner and night at Umajalanta.

Day 2 : TOROTORO / TREK CIUDAD DE ITAS / CAVERNA UMAJALANTA

TOROTORO / TREK CIUDAD DE ITAS / CAVERNA UMAJALANTA

Departure in the morning towards Ciudad de Itas, 10km away from the hotel. 2h walk in this beautiful stone city, a set of giant rock formations, in the middle of a majestic mountain area of sedimentary rocks. You will enjoy labyrinths that lead to countless narrow caverns, cave paintings and other rock formations. Back to the hotel for lunch then we head towards the Umajalanta cavern in the beginning of the afternoon (2km away from the hotel). From the parking to the entrance of the cave, you will walk approximately 45mn, with explanations on the site and 2 hours in the cave in total darkness (flash lights furnished). It is the deepest cave of Bolivia, with some very narrowed transitions, on the roofs some interesting formations of stalactites and stalagmites (some will make think of funny shapes if you push your imagination, like the Christmas tree). In total, 3h30mn approximately. Back to the hotel at the end of the day. Rest, dinner and night at Umajalanta.

Day 3 : TOROTORO / EL VERGEL – TOTORA

Departure in the morning to El Vergel, located 14km away from the hotel. It is a body of crystalline water that fall as a curtain through a set of mosses and trees. 3 viewpoints offer an incredible view on this natural beautiful landscape. Possibility to go down the canyon, have a refreshing swim in the river. Walk between 2h30 and 4h approximately. Lunch at the hotel and departure in the beginning of the afternoon to a very nice village called Totora (5h30 approx.) Arrival early in the evening. Rest, dinner and night in Totora.

Day 4 : TOTORA - INCALLAJTA– SAN CARLOS

TOTORA - INCALLAJTA– SAN CARLOS

We leave the village of Totora early in the morning, towards the most important Inca archeological site of Bolivia, called Incallajta. 1h drive from the village, with some very nice landscapes on the way. The walk on the site lasts approximately between 2 hours (visit of the main ruins, the 2 floors house, the sacred rock and the sacred beautiful waterfall) and 4 hours (if you want to visit as well the ruins on top of the mountain). Back to Totora for lunch and walk in the village. Early in the afternoon, we head towards San Carlos village (3 hours’ drive approximately, beautiful landscapes on the way). Arrival at the end of the day in the peaceful refuge where a hammock is waiting you! We go down to the rivier, for a little hour, to start the birdwatching of Parabas Frente Roja, an Ara specie, endangered and endemic specie of Bolivia. The birds parade in the sky, you can admire their colors (green, yellow, red) and let yourself rocked by their song.

Day 5 : SAN CARLOS / BIRDWATCHING AND MIRADOR - AIQUILE / VISIT CHARANGO MUSEUM

SAN CARLOS / BIRDWATCHING AND MIRADOR - AIQUILE / VISIT CHARANGO MUSEUM

Departure very early in the morning to have more chances to observe the Parabas. We cross the river (30mn walk approx.) to get closer to the Peña Colorada, where they nest. Thanks to the appropriate material, landed by the local guide, we can see the birds from very close and follow their trajectory in the sky. A unique and privileged moment! Back to the refuge, we start a little walk of 1 hour towards the Mirador that offers a beautiful view on the village and the Peña Colorada. Around 10 AM, we leave heading towards Aiquile, the capital of Charango (music instrument, typically Andean). Lunch at Aiquile and in the afternoon, visit of the Charango museum and monuments (2h30 approx.) Back to the hotel at the end of the day, night at Aiquile.

Day 6 : AIQUILE – SUCRE

SUCRE / COOKING CLASS – LA PAZ

Departure from the hotel towards the market of Sucre to buy the ingredients needed for the Bolivian cooking class. Discovery of local specificities, a moment full of colors and smells. Then, we head towards the place where the cooking class will take place and where 2 recipes are awaiting us: the peanut soup and the pastel of Quinoa. 2h of cooking class in very nice company, then we taste our preparation. Delicious! In the beginning of the afternoon, we attend a traditional weaving workshop. We leave around 15h30 to the airport. Flight Sucre-La Paz at 17h40. Arrival to La Paz at 18h40.
