From mid-September to early October 2023, we enjoyed an exceptional trip thanks to a local agency (Thaki) based in La Paz, Bolivia, and run by two French people, Jérôme and Anne.
This private tour for 4 people enabled us to be accompanied by French-speaking guides and drivers, all very professional, serious and human, with whom we had lots of laughs and a great time. We landed in Santa-Cruz de la Sierra, which made it easier for us to adapt to the next stages at altitude. After visiting the equally interesting cities of Sucre and Potosi, we had the pleasure of meeting various communities while discovering and traversing breathtaking landscapes:

From endless deserts to villages bordering the Andes mountain range with its colorful peaks - and we were lucky enough to be alone on the Salar d'Uyuni, which is known to be very crowded. Aperitif on the Salar d'Uyuni as we wait for the sun to set - magical!

Numerous lagoons, each as different as the next, including the "Laguna Colorada", with its colony of pink flamingos, transported us into a truly fairytale world. And let's not forget the herds of llamas and alpacas that wander along the paths we took...
A mostly track-based tour, from South Lipez to Lake Titicaca, the latter offering an environment of superb contrasts - an enchantment.

We asked Thaki Voyage to organize a part of our trip in Bolivia. Anne adapted very well to my requests and concocted top-notch excursions for us. Anne's staff were brilliant and gave us an incredible time: excursion to Candelaria, 4-day tour of South Lipez and Salar, climb of Pico Austria, mountain bike day on the Death Road and excursion to Tiwanaku and Lake Titicaca. Communication with Anne was perfect before and throughout the trip. Very professional agency to recommend. Note that Anne is a great Andean specialist, so she's perfect for advising you and finding what you need!

We went for three treks with Thaki: an acclimation Trek (Austria Peak and Janq’u Uyu), a wild trek in the Apolobamba Cordillera (Huanacuni and Chaupi Orco) and to finish in style, a mythic trek to Illimani!
Everything was flawless from the beginning to the end: whether the preparation from France or the organisation and the welcome there. The Thaki Team has been tip top: pleasant, smiling, passionate, attentive, reactive... nothing to complain about! We hope they’ll open offices in neighbour countries!
In the case of the treks, the logistic was there: vehicles, mules, porters, but also the food: cooks pleased us with succulent soups, local dishes along with feast of cheese for aperitif. Highly appreciated!
We’ve been feeling very safe during the ascents, and that’s why mountain guides are UIAGM certified. They are true, authentic, and passionate by their valleys and mountains, they are in their land and happy to share it. In fact, during our Apolobamba trek, they talk a lot about the Thaki expedition there in 2013, exploring for new summits in the region. This agency is opened to new summits and mountains, a real plus, compared to other agencies...
In short: THANKS! What an unforgettable trip... We came back loaded with plenty of images, happy to have lived this experience!

Thaki was extremely professional and helpful from the planning of our trip to the execution. We gave Thaki our dates, as well as what we generally like to do, and they built a personalized itinerary which included amazing and comfortable hotels, all transfers, and amazing guides. Veronica was our point of contact, and she was always extremely responsive, even during the trip when we had questions. She also ensured everything was going well at all times. We had zero hiccups during the entire trip (when does that ever happen?!?!): all transfers were punctual, itinerary followed by all of the guides, and we enjoyed all of the areas we visited. The highlight of using Thaki was in no doubt the guides we were able to spend time with: all were extremely knowledgeable, very nice, and went above and beyond to provide us with the best experience, from bringing us to see sunsets on the salar with an aperitivo, to taking us around La Paz cable cars, and night walks in the jungle. Our driver-guide Bernardo, professional, cautious, knows perfectly well the region, and has been very attentive to let us enjoy as much as possible the visited sites, and let us discover local culture.

Stunning trip with my 17 years old daughter: choice in the stopover, diversity of landscapes (Salt desert, train cemetery, Red Lake, Green Lake…), authentic places (La Paz, Community of Tuni). Smooth acclimation to high altitude. Highly professional management of contingencies (Snowstorm in Uyuni, and immediate booking of a backup hotel), excellent 4WD drivers with perfect knowledge of their region, excellent photographers too! 50 days trekking in Bolivia and Argentina and 5 ascents… Gorgeous, with an exceptional end. A professional team, in support as well as in organisation, and a very pleasant atmosphere: kindness, availability, perfect logistic, super pro guides who bring you kindness and sweetness during the most difficult moments, and food and drinks... always very nicely done. Well, they put all the ingredients for a pleasant trip in the best conditions, and a team always reactive and smiling. Outstanding experience with Thaki.

First of all, a special thank to Anne who organised our 4 days tour on the hoof, during her week end. A great thank to Jerome who followed the unfolding of our tour. And an enormous thank to Santos, our excellent guide and marvellous driver!! We could not hope for better! A safe driving in a very good and very well maintained vehicle. As far as I am concerned, I cannot enjoy landscapes in a fast car with bald tires driven by a drunk driver who does not know the path... With Thaki, nothing of all this. Santos knows well his route, he’s been practising it for many years. He speaks very good French and has a great knowledge. He let us love his country and its landscapes, many thanks for all those unforgettable moments.

A very professional agency, highly recommendable to attempt the ascent of Huayna Potosi in the best conditions. Equipment and implemented means are excellent, particularly our UIAGM guide Rolando who was a key asset to reach the summit at 6088 m. Thanks to Thaki Team, thanks to Anne and Rolando....

We went for a 3 weeks trip with Thaki in August 2018, along with our 8 and 6 year old kids. The trip went very well with Thaki. The agency adapted very well to unforeseen situations we had: cancelation of our flight from Sucre due to snowfall, strong fever of our son after which 5 days of the program were reorganised in 2 hours. Bolivia is a gorgeous country, but you may encounter hazards, especially with young kids (High altitude sickness, weather conditions), which Thaki will manage smoothly, always with kindness and good humour, rarely charging you extra. Furthermore, a telemedicine service helped us to be more relaxed during our stay. Well, don’t hesitate, and let Thaki guide you, and you’ll be safe in a friendly and caring environment. A big thank as well to our guides : Walter in the South Lipez Region, a very god driver. Enrique and Aude in Sucre. Outstanding Ismael in Amazonia who transmitted us his passion for the jungle. We were two families travelling with Thaki. We booked and planned our trip from France. We communicated a lot, all of them very professional, they answered very quickly and very precisely all our numerous questions. Jerome took into consideration all our remarks and wishes. We were lucky to be accompanied by an exceptional French speaking guide called Alejandro, and may be our trip would not have been so successful without his professionalism, his kindness and his reactivity (and Jerome’s as well) to handle unforeseen situations, such as, in our case, the cancelation of a local flight for bad weather, which was solved in only 4 hours, finding a minibus (for 8 people!) going for 8 hours driving, then finding an hotel in Uyuni and modifying the schedule of the day after!!! We recommend strongly this travel agency.

A professional team, always listening, always available to plan , even at the last minute in case of a contingency. All the tours went smoothly, without any problem, including the coordination from a stage to the other, local flights, guides hotels or refuges. The agency is always in contact with the guide and can take immediate action in case of unexpected situation. They are very reactive: while having a problem with a hosting, they changed it for another of better quality without extra charge. You may find cheaper, but the value for money is definitely in their favour. In short, you can blindly trust Thaki Voyage, but keep your eyes wide open during your trip...

A big applause to this agency for the organization of our stay! Everything was perfect. Welcomed at the airport. Never caught out punctuality. Accommodation quality according to what was said. Tailor made circuits cleverly built. 4 days at Titicaca Lake, one week in Lipez region. Felix, our driver around Titicaca Lake and transports to/from the airport, Alejandro, our (French speaking) guide for Titicaca Lake. Claudio, our driver, guide and cook for the Lipez region... All of them were perfect!! Very professional, incredibly kind, very pleasant company. We visited lots of places out of the beaten tracks. And they always had a trick to get a little apart from the very touristic crowds in the must-see sites. From the first to the last minute, a trip with peace of mind. We strongly recommend this travel agency.
