Akamani Ascent

The Akamani (5665m) is the first summit to be discovered in the south of the Apolobamba Cordillera. It has the advantage of being easily accessible from Charazani. We continue by 4×4 vehicle to the village of Lagunillas and finally Kanisaya. From there, we reach in one day the foot of this glacial massif. Beautiful area. The ascent offers some beautiful technical and somewhat committed passages (rocky bars and summit wall inclined at 60º / 65º). The panorama at the top is very beautiful over the whole range of the Apolobamba Cordillera.

ASCENSION OF AKAMANI (5665 M.A.S.L./18585 FEET) – BASE CAMP (4615 M.A.S.L./15141 FEET)

We walk along the lake, on the moraine. Then we have to find the way through a rocky barrier, to arrive at the edge of the glacier. It is very similar to the glacial plateau of Chachacomani, a wide gently sloping plateau that we will cross to the bottom of the crests. From there, the slopes are steeper (50º / 55º). We arrive at the ridges for sunrise. After a short break, we continue on the ridges to a vertical rocky wall. Finally we can go around it from below. We pass crossing below the rocky bar. This section is slightly tricky and we must be alert. We are now left with an ice wall (60º / 65º) which will lead us to the summit. It is a real beautiful glacial route, technical at will. Very
